Party-spiration

Hey guys!
So my birthday is officially in less than a week. What. I honestly cannot believe it! I’ll be turning 18 and I seriously feel like I’m still 12 – time is flying by!
Since my birthday falls on a Tuesday this year (April 8th) I’m having a party at my house for my family and our close family friends this Sunday. I’m super excited! I love decorating, so I’ve been on Pinterest looking up ideas, and I thought I would share with you guys what I’m thinking of doing!
I’m going to stay with a pastel color scheme with gold accents because it’s so pretty and elegant! I really love this picture because it’s basically how I want everything to look haha. I don’t actually know what my cake will look like though, because my parents own a bakery and they are surprising me!
I really love the little pom-pom things made out of tissue paper. We got some to hang around everywhere and I think they’ll look really cute!
We are also going to have these picture balloons floating around! I think it’s such a great way to have tons of photos from my life displayed, but in a different way from the traditional framed ones. And my family loves looking at photos so I’ll have to throw in some funny and embarrassing ones haha.
I think for entry ways these would be cute, possibly a combination of the two? But I think I might have too many animals for this to actually stay for the whole day…
We’re going to be using both of these ideas; I think they are both so pretty and will look really great! We got gold floating candles since I want to have gold accents everywhere, and I absolutely love flowers so it’ll be the best of both worlds since I’m obsessed with candles as well!
I think we might do this to our french doors that go out to our porch (of course with an 18 hehe) since we have so many pictures. I think it’ll look really cute! Although, as my dad pointed out, it’ll look like an 81 when you’re outside haha!
I don’t know if we’ll actually do this, but it’s such a cute way to add even more gold accents! The sparkles might get a bit messy so we may skip this, especially since it’ll be a lot of effort for something that we’ll just throw away. And my little boy cousins probably won’t appreciate having gold hands. Something like this would be so cute for a wedding, though!
Well that’s what I have so far! My mom and I went and got some decorations yesterday, which makes me even more excited! I can’t wait to put everything up and see how it all turns out (: I am definitely going to do a post all about it once everything is ready!
How do you like to decorate for parties?
Thank you so much for reading, and also thank you so much to everyone who follows! I just reached 50 followers and I could not be more grateful! Thank you thank you thank you!! (:

Liebster Award!

Hey guys!
So today I really didn’t have an idea of what I was going to post about, since I like to post on Sunday’s because they’re so lazy and wonderful, and then the lovely Becca from Being Becca nominated me for the Liebster Award! I have been nominated a couple of times but I have never gotten around to actually doing it, however this time it seemed like a lot of fun! So basically you write eleven facts about yourself, answer eleven questions from your nominator, come up with eleven questions of your own, and nominate four other people!
So here we go!
Eleven Facts About Me:
1. I am an extremely shy person at first, but once you get to know me I tend to be a little crazy!
2. I absolutely love to read and write.
3. I hope to be a successful writer one day, but I also want to be an anthropologist, archaeologist, journalist, screenwriter, or maybe a criminal profiler…I really don’t have it figured out at all!
4. I adore animals, and have three dogs and four cats of my own! They are seriously my life.
5. I love classic cars, and basically cars in general, which I get from my dad.
6. I have never lived in a neighborhood, and I hope to keep it that way! I love living on acreage and having the outdoors to explore around my house.
7. I want to travel to many places, Paris, Greece, and Scotland being the top three as of now!
8. I am turning 18 in less then a month now, and I have absolutely no idea which college I will be going to next year, or what I will be studying, and that scares me so much!
9. I am addicted to Jamba Juice and I go there so much that the employees know my name and order. I get the Orange-a-peel and oh my gosh my mouth is watering just thinking of it!
10. I am a home body and I really don’t mind being alone.
11. I always have to have my water bottle with me and I freak out whenever I forget it somewhere!
Becca’s Questions:
1. Why did you start blogging?
I felt like I had so much to say, and I really wanted a place where I could share my life, random thoughts, likes, dislikes, fashion ideas, outfits and the beauty products I use. I also love to write, so I feel like this little space on the internet is mine to do whatever I want with.
2. What is your current favorite item of clothing?
I got this green tribal print cardigan for Christmas and I absolutely love it(it is the sweater from my January favorites). It is perfect for days where I don’t really want to make an effort, but still look nice, and it is nice and warm! However, for the spring I am so excited to wear my lilac-y grayish kimono cardigan!
 3. Favorite skincare brand?
This is a hard one because I have so many skincare favorites from so many different brands, but my favorite drugstore brand is Burt’s Bees (they came out with a line for animals recently!) and my higher end favorite is First Aid Beauty.
4. What is your current occupation?
I am a student currently!
5. Disney or Harry Potter?
Ahhh I love both! However I have an obsession with Harry Potter so I’d have to choose that. I have read the books and watched the movies too many times to count… I also went to Harry Potter world at Universal Studios last year in Florida, and I just about died. That is my ultimate dream summer job!!
6. If you had to dye your hair a color other than natural colors such as blonde, red etc what would you choose?
This is surprisingly easy because I think it is so pretty when it is done right, and that is lilac! I don’t know why I love it so much, but I think it is gorgeous. I have seen so many pictures of it on tumblr and I just love it. However, I will probably never have the courage to actually do it!
7. False eyelashes or extensions?
Hmm…probably extensions because I think long hair is so pretty.
8. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
On a warm, white sand beach, laying out in the sun with a good book!
9. If you could only watch one program for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Probably Reign! It is such a good show and I love history. And for some reason I have always been obsessed with Mary Queen of Scots so it has quickly become my favorite show. The characters’ dresses are also SO gorgeous.
10. One rule you live your life by?
I have several, but my dad has always told me “It ain’t nothin’ but a thing” so I try and think of that whenever I’m doing anything scary. Honestly, I love trying new things even if they terrify me. I get so nervous sometimes before trying things like zip-lining or a particularly scary roller-coaster, but I just tell myself it’s just a small thing that will be over in a couple of minutes, so I might as well try it! It’s something that doesn’t allow me let myself down, because honestly if it weren’t for my dad and his saying, I never would have ended up so ambitious to try new things!
11. Your favorite food?
Salsa and blue corn chips!
My questions:
1. Who is your biggest inspiration?
2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
3. What is your dream job?
4. Favorite store?
5. What is your go-to look?
6. If you could only use one make-up product, what would it be?
7. What is your favorite book?
8. Favorite type of food?
9. What is something that you are looking forward to in the next couple of months?
10. Biggest life lesson?
11. Favorite quote?
My nominations:
I love all of these girls’ blogs, so please check them out!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great day! (:

Sunday Thoughts

Hey Guys!
I’m currently sitting in my bed right now, watching Harry Potter and eating a Nerd Rope. All the fairy lights are on and candles lit, so I am one happy bug. It’s been such a nice Sunday today, just relaxing with my family and doing some cleaning around the house. Sundays are definitely my favorite day of the week!
Today I thought I would share a quote that I found a while back with you guys 🙂
I absolutely adore this quote. When I was younger, I always had such big dreams and plans for my life. Today, I still have dreams and plans, but sometimes it seems so scary planning my life because it is now so real. It was very easy when I was seven years old to say that someday I would be a famous author, or an archaeologist working in Egypt. Now I have to think about a career that will allow me to be successful and able to support myself, so it’s easy to lose sight of what would make me truly happy.  When I saw this quote, I instantly fell in love. It really puts dreams in perspectives, and it is so true. If you aren’t actively pursuing your own dreams, you are probably working to help support someone else’s. While it is never a bad thing to help someone out, it is just as important to make your dreams come true. The world today doesn’t encourage dream-making, but rather money-making, and I think it has resulted in a lot of unhappy people. My parents have always told me to do what I love, and to not worry about money. While this is a very admirable thing to do, the world today makes that a very hard task to achieve.
However, 2013 really taught me to do what I love. I have realized what I love to do, and maybe what careers I would like to have when I am older. I also learned what I don’t like to do, which is actually really helpful to me now, so I know what not to study in college. Since 2014 is the year that I will graduate high school (what?!), I’m glad to have figured all that out in 2013. All in all, it was a good year because I learned a lot about myself, and about life in general. I am much more confident about someday moving out and living on my own, because I finally have confidence in myself. I feel like I have really broken out of my shell this past year, and I began to learn more about myself. I still have so much more to go, so I am really looking forward to 2014. I have a lot of goals that I am working to achieve, and I feel so ready. 2014 is going to be such a huge year; I am turning 18, graduating from high school, going to college, the list goes on and on. I am really hoping for a great year to come, and I think going into the new year with a good attitude is the best way to tackle it. So, I don’t have any new years resolutions per se, but rather goals to accomplish and dreams to begin. I have started writing a book and I am excited to see where that will take me, and I plan to work on my blog a lot more.
So, I hope you all had a good 2013, and I hope 2014 is even better!
What are your goals or resolutions for 2014?
Thanks for reading and have a great rest of your day! 🙂

My Favorite Quotes

Hello everyone! So tonight I was planning on posting a review of a concealer I recently bought, but (as usual) it’s taking so long to download the pictures. Consequently, tomorrow, I will have to try and take some more pictures of the actual product with a different camera and see how that goes…

But I still wanted to post tonight, so I decided to share my favorite quotes! I actually have a bunch of quotes around my mirror so that inspired me to share some of them with you guys.

I really love this quote – it really resonated with me when I first heard it. I’m always really nervous about trying new things (like starting this blog!) so I find this quote really reassuring. Who knows where life will take you! Never be afraid to fulfill your wildest dreams because you’ll probably end up in a great place, even if it’s not where you thought it would be!

I think this quote is so great because it kind of sums up the whole Feminist Movement and the breaking of the “Cult of Domesticity” here in America in the early-mid 1900s (haha sorry to spew a bunch of history – I took a really hard American History class this past year, and that was one of our last units, so it’s still in my head). It’s really inspiring too because it shows women can do great things when we speak up for what we believe in!

This quote is so inspiring because we as humans are so afraid of failure, so if that component was taken out of the life experience, imagine how many dreams people would fulfill everyday! I imagine there would be many more dare devils out there! I think the world would be a happier place as well if not so many people were afraid of failure. I have definitely struggled with that fear! I think we all have; it’s such a scary thing putting yourself out there with the knowledge that you could fail. But I think this quote and the first one go together so well, because if you attempt to do something great, and you don’t completely succeed, it doesn’t mean you’ll end up in a horrific place.
Haha, sorry if some of you really hate all of this inspirational talk. I really didn’t mean to bore you guys, but it’s fun to talk about what inspires me to work toward my dreams!
Which quotes inspire you? And, what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
Have a great day! (:

My Favorite Quotes

Hello everyone! So tonight I was planning on posting a review of a concealer I recently bought, but (as usual) it’s taking so long to download the pictures. Consequently, tomorrow, I will have to try and take some more pictures of the actual product with a different camera and see how that goes…

But I still wanted to post tonight, so I decided to share my favorite quotes! I actually have a bunch of quotes around my mirror so that inspired me to share some of them with you guys.
