Fit Friday: Insanity Workout

Hey guys!
So recently I started doing the Insanity Workout, and I thought it would be fun to start a “Fit Friday” series and share my progress! It’s a 60 (63 to be exact) day fitness program that is true to it’s name – it is, in fact, insane!! Today marked the last day of the first week, and oh my gosh did it kick my butt. I thought I was in shape since I do swim and have only recently stopped since the school season is over, but in these workouts you use completely different muscles, so I’ve been pretty sore haha. And I’m not used to working out on the land, as crazy as that sounds! Honestly it’s so much different working out in the water rather than land – I don’t know what it is.
But since the school season of swim is over I wanted to do something physical to stay in shape and get more toned, so I thought the Insanity program would be perfect. Although it’s extremely hard, I feel so great after the workouts! I love the feeling after a really good workout, and these are definitely great. Even though my body is super sore, I am so happy! I actually love being sore because it means your body is working hard and changing for the better!
The first day was a Fit Test, so I (naively) was feeling pretty good about the fact that I wasn’t covered in sweat and could still walk afterwards. However, the second day was a different story! My heart was really beating, and I was sweating and breathing like crazy during the workout! Afterwards, I could barely walk up the stairs haha my legs felt like jell-o! The workouts haven’t gotten easier per se, just more manageable, if that makes sense. During the day, though, I’ve had a lot of energy despite the fact that I’m super sore! I’m so excited to see how great I’ll feel after the full 63 days.  Tomorrow is my rest day so I’m definitely looking forward to that!
The program is six days of workouts and one day of rest, so it may seem like a lot, but going through it day by day is easier than it sounds. You fall into a routine with the workouts, for example I do them when I get home from school in the afternoons, take a shower, and do my homework. The workouts fit in perfectly!
I’m so excited to continue with this program, and I’ll keep you guys updated! Haha hopefully this isn’t too boring to read, but I thought it would be fun to share with you all since it’s become a pretty big part of my life!
Thank you so much for reading, and have a great day! (:

OOTD: Finally Getting Warm!

Hey guys!
So the sun is finally starting to shine around where I live, and the weather is warming up! I could not be happier since we actually had a pretty cold winter this year. So since it was sunny and warm today, I got to wear some new spring clothes that I got a couple weeks ago!
Shorts (I know, they look like a skirt)-Nordstrom
Shirt-Pacsun
Cardigan/Sweater-Aeropostale
Booties-Macy’s
Headband-Forever 21
And I got the necklace as a gift, so I don’t know where it’s from, sorry! :/
I am in love with this outfit!! It will definitely be worn a lot this spring/summer. The cardigan is light but not too thin, it is seriously perfect. I actually got it from my mom yesterday! She surprised me with a Jamba Juice, Nerd ropes, and this cardigan! She is honestly the greatest mom – I was having such a bad day yesterday and I guess by mother’s intuition she knew! I am so so so grateful to have her as my mom (:
Haha anyway, this outfit is super comfy and I love how everything comes together. And the cardigan will be great for summer nights so I can just throw it over whatever I’m wearing so I don’t get cold (or eaten alive by bugs since I tend to get a lot of bug bites)! And for a bonus, my dogs and cats love playing with the tassels on the bottom.
Here’s a better look at the cardigan
And, since it was such a nice day, I took a couple of pictures of my dogs while they were outside!
TJ loves to smell the camera
This was too cute not to include. He loves smiling!
Miki’s pretty camera shy though!
Aaaand Z has to bark at everything.
A little duck playing in our creek (:
Hopefully I didn’t bore you guys with my other pictures from today! Since it was so nice out I thought I would take a few quick snaps, and because I’m stoked for spring!!
What are you looking forward to the most for spring?
As always, thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a great day! (:

What Are You Waiting For?

On the drive home today from school, I found myself thinking about how much more exciting my life will be once I’m out of high school and in college, but then I thought, why do I have to wait? Don’t get me wrong, I love my life right now and I am so thankful for everything and everyone in it, but I do wish I got out and just lived more. It seems like my life is just engulfed with homework, studying, applying to college (well that part is over, now I’m just waiting for the decisions from these colleges) and scholarships, and just general mundane, everyday-life-stuff. Why do I have to wait until after high school to “start” my life? Am I not living now? I want to have crazy stories for my kids about the adventures I went on, but those adventures don’t have to wait until I’m 20-something.
I think it’s in our nature to be afraid of immediately starting something; there are always excuses as to why we have to wait to go out and do something great. Of course, sometimes there are legitimate excuses, but for the most part, I think as people we’re afraid to drop everything and just go. It’s understandable, since routine is comfortable and change is scary, but I think we would be a lot happier if we actually went out and had some fun. I want to do so many things: travel, see the sights around me that I have never bothered to see, hike, sleep under the stars…the list goes on and on. And really, there isn’t a reason as to why I can’t start doing those things now. I don’t mean that tomorrow I’m going to go out with reckless abandon and go for a thirty mile hike, but I want to start with baby steps maybe, and try to at least “go on an adventure” (If you’ve read/seen the Hobbit see what I did there…I know, it was cheesy, but it’s my favorite part) a couple times a month instead of staying holed up in my house stressing over things that I cannot change.
I challenge you to do the same! Go out and do something you have always wanted to do, even if it scares you. Go outside and talk a walk, or maybe face a fear. I don’t know, just live. Relatively speaking, we don’t get too long on this earth, so you should make the best of the time that you do have. You don’t want to be 80 years old, wishing you had gone for that hike or jumped in that lake. Try new things and find the good in everyday. Why wait?!
I don’t know what has gotten into me, maybe it’s spring fever, but I am just rearing to go out in the world and explore all it has to offer. This has been on my mind a lot lately, so I just wanted to share it with you guys (: I really hope it has inspired you!
What is one thing that you have always wanted to do?
Thank you so much for reading, and have a great rest of your day! (:

Sunday Thoughts

Hey Guys!
I’m currently sitting in my bed right now, watching Harry Potter and eating a Nerd Rope. All the fairy lights are on and candles lit, so I am one happy bug. It’s been such a nice Sunday today, just relaxing with my family and doing some cleaning around the house. Sundays are definitely my favorite day of the week!
Today I thought I would share a quote that I found a while back with you guys 🙂
I absolutely adore this quote. When I was younger, I always had such big dreams and plans for my life. Today, I still have dreams and plans, but sometimes it seems so scary planning my life because it is now so real. It was very easy when I was seven years old to say that someday I would be a famous author, or an archaeologist working in Egypt. Now I have to think about a career that will allow me to be successful and able to support myself, so it’s easy to lose sight of what would make me truly happy.  When I saw this quote, I instantly fell in love. It really puts dreams in perspectives, and it is so true. If you aren’t actively pursuing your own dreams, you are probably working to help support someone else’s. While it is never a bad thing to help someone out, it is just as important to make your dreams come true. The world today doesn’t encourage dream-making, but rather money-making, and I think it has resulted in a lot of unhappy people. My parents have always told me to do what I love, and to not worry about money. While this is a very admirable thing to do, the world today makes that a very hard task to achieve.
However, 2013 really taught me to do what I love. I have realized what I love to do, and maybe what careers I would like to have when I am older. I also learned what I don’t like to do, which is actually really helpful to me now, so I know what not to study in college. Since 2014 is the year that I will graduate high school (what?!), I’m glad to have figured all that out in 2013. All in all, it was a good year because I learned a lot about myself, and about life in general. I am much more confident about someday moving out and living on my own, because I finally have confidence in myself. I feel like I have really broken out of my shell this past year, and I began to learn more about myself. I still have so much more to go, so I am really looking forward to 2014. I have a lot of goals that I am working to achieve, and I feel so ready. 2014 is going to be such a huge year; I am turning 18, graduating from high school, going to college, the list goes on and on. I am really hoping for a great year to come, and I think going into the new year with a good attitude is the best way to tackle it. So, I don’t have any new years resolutions per se, but rather goals to accomplish and dreams to begin. I have started writing a book and I am excited to see where that will take me, and I plan to work on my blog a lot more.
So, I hope you all had a good 2013, and I hope 2014 is even better!
What are your goals or resolutions for 2014?
Thanks for reading and have a great rest of your day! 🙂
