Dorm Room Inspiration

Hey guys!
I have written a couple of posts in the past couple of days, but saved them as drafts, as I just want to let them kind of…stew, for lack of a better term! So today I thought I would share with you guys how I’m hoping my dorm room will turn out! I move in on September 19th, so I want to get a bit of an early start on getting decorations and all of the necessary items sorted out.
I would love  to find a tapestry or something like this to hang in my room since we can’t paint or anything. It’s so pretty and would definitely personalize my dorm a lot more!
I also love the idea of hanging lights and pretty fabric over your bed! This would make it seem so much more cozy and home-y.

These little photos hanging off of fairy lights are so cute! I love how it looks at night.
This is such a great idea! I really want to break out of my shell in college and have the time of my life, and this would definitely force me to do it! The little bucket on the side is so adorable, too.
The birds flying along the lights are so cool as well – I love bird silhouettes!
I love how clean yet boho this looks! I absolutely love dream catchers and really want to put one up in my dorm, so something like this would be perfect! I think I might do something similar by my desk. And it would be cool to put pictures in the shape of my home state!
This is basically exactly how my dorm is going to be set up, with my bed being lofted and my desk underneath it in order to save as much room as possible. This room just looks so cozy and home-y! I would really like for my dorm to look like this.
How cool are these lights?! I have seen this DIY project on Pinterest and I am definitely going to give this a try. If it’s a success, then you will be seeing it in a future post! However, if not, then in the pile of “DIY’s From Pinterest That Didn’t Work” it will go.

I also like the simplicity of these two – it kind of reminds me of snow and rain. They would also be a really classy way of using fairy lights, and not just look like strands of lights strung around everywhere!
My mom made a couple of these for our house, and they are so pretty! I would love to have these in my room (even though I’m not 21 yet, but I mean wine bottles are classy right?) to remind me of home. I might be able to use Mason Jars, too!
Ahhhhhh if only I had the room for a bookshelf like this in my future dorm room…it’s going to be super weird not having all of my books with me! I have about three or four book shelves in my room (by now I’m having to stack them in random places because I’m running out of room) so I’ll have to be picky about the ones I take with me to college!
Well, there you have it! I would be extremely happy if my dorm room turned out like any of these pictures, and I’m hoping that they do! I’m on the hunt for the perfect decorations >:)
What kind of decor do you like?
Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a great day!

Party-spiration

Hey guys!
So my birthday is officially in less than a week. What. I honestly cannot believe it! I’ll be turning 18 and I seriously feel like I’m still 12 – time is flying by!
Since my birthday falls on a Tuesday this year (April 8th) I’m having a party at my house for my family and our close family friends this Sunday. I’m super excited! I love decorating, so I’ve been on Pinterest looking up ideas, and I thought I would share with you guys what I’m thinking of doing!
I’m going to stay with a pastel color scheme with gold accents because it’s so pretty and elegant! I really love this picture because it’s basically how I want everything to look haha. I don’t actually know what my cake will look like though, because my parents own a bakery and they are surprising me!
I really love the little pom-pom things made out of tissue paper. We got some to hang around everywhere and I think they’ll look really cute!
We are also going to have these picture balloons floating around! I think it’s such a great way to have tons of photos from my life displayed, but in a different way from the traditional framed ones. And my family loves looking at photos so I’ll have to throw in some funny and embarrassing ones haha.
I think for entry ways these would be cute, possibly a combination of the two? But I think I might have too many animals for this to actually stay for the whole day…
We’re going to be using both of these ideas; I think they are both so pretty and will look really great! We got gold floating candles since I want to have gold accents everywhere, and I absolutely love flowers so it’ll be the best of both worlds since I’m obsessed with candles as well!
I think we might do this to our french doors that go out to our porch (of course with an 18 hehe) since we have so many pictures. I think it’ll look really cute! Although, as my dad pointed out, it’ll look like an 81 when you’re outside haha!
I don’t know if we’ll actually do this, but it’s such a cute way to add even more gold accents! The sparkles might get a bit messy so we may skip this, especially since it’ll be a lot of effort for something that we’ll just throw away. And my little boy cousins probably won’t appreciate having gold hands. Something like this would be so cute for a wedding, though!
Well that’s what I have so far! My mom and I went and got some decorations yesterday, which makes me even more excited! I can’t wait to put everything up and see how it all turns out (: I am definitely going to do a post all about it once everything is ready!
How do you like to decorate for parties?
Thank you so much for reading, and also thank you so much to everyone who follows! I just reached 50 followers and I could not be more grateful! Thank you thank you thank you!! (:

DIY Mason Jar Snow Globes

Hey guys!
So it has been a long time since I posted. I have, as always, been super busy! Finals are coming up, as I’m sure everyone is very aware of, and I have had a huge paper to write for one of my classes. Swim started back in November as well, so as soon as I get home and done with homework, I’m just about passed out. But I have a lot of posts that I am getting ready because I have had a lot of ideas lately! Probably because it’s my absolute favorite time of the year! 🙂 I love Christmas and this time of year because everything is so cozy, and you get to spend a lot of time with friends and family.
Anyway! Let’s get onto the globes!
I saw a picture of these on tumblr I think it was, and they looked really easy to make! So I looked them up, went to the craft store and got supplies.
For this project you will need a Mason jar of any size, little fake trees, glitter (I got tinsel glitter – I would stick to the smaller glitter, as I first tried big flakes of glitter and that didn’t turn out so well), and super glue.

Alright, now for the steps.
1. Un-screw the lid of the mason jar, and separate the lid from the round metal piece:

2. Place however many trees you want (and that will fit) on the white part of the lid. Make sure the bases of the trees don’t cover the orange part. Then glue them down! I let the glue dry over night to ensure it dried well enough, and that the trees would be secure.

3. Fill the mason jar up with water and place the lid on the jar. At this point, do not put the glitter in. The trees turn the water a hazy blue color, so allow them to sit in the water and get the extra coloring off. I did this for a couple of days, but after a day, no more color comes off, so you could change the water then.

This is one that I had let sit overnight.
4. Once all the blue coloring is off of the trees, pour out the hazy water and rinse off them off to ensure no more blue comes off. Put in as much glitter as you want, but don’t go super crazy! I found that you need less glitter than you think. Fill the mason jar with water, leaving room for the water displacement of the trees, and put on the lid and screw on the metal part. I put super glue around the orange part on the lid to make sure it had a tight, waterproof seal. And instead of flipping it over right away, I allowed it to sit upright to let the glue dry.
Here’s a picture with the “snow” shook up.
I think these snow globes are so cute, and I really love mason jars. I think I’m going to tie little pieces of twine around the base to add a little something extra. These little guys are great for decorations around the house, or for a Christmas gift! And they’re a lot of fun to make!
Let me know if you guys make these, or have made them before! What other DIY projects do you like doing for the holidays? Or, what is your favorite part of this time of year?
Thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your day! (:

DIY: T-Shirt Cutting

Hey guys!
So a few weeks ago I cut an over-sized T-shirt to make it a cute tank top! I actually made the T-shirt myself (well I put the quote on it, I didn’t actually sew it together or anything) but wanted it to be a tank top. So I decided to cut it! I have a tank top that’s a very similar shape and I love it because it’s really versatile; I definitely wanted this T-shirt to look the same!
T-shirt before I cut it

I made the stencil using my Cricut machine. As you can see, the paint bled through the lines, but I actually like how it did that! The awkward little dot was supposed to be a star. I know, it really doesn’t look anything like one, but oh well.

I used these dye’s to make the quotes.
For the dye, I first mixed the blue and green (using more blue) and lightened the resulting color with white. I painted it on the shirt, let it dry over night, and bada bing it was done.
For the cutting, I first cut off the sleeves. But I turned it inside out first so I could see the seems better, cutting on the inside of the seems so they were no longer part of the shirt. It provided a helpful guideline so it was even on both sides.
Next, I turned it outside in again, and cut off about four inches or so from the bottom.
Tip: about halfway through cutting the bottom, I folded the already-cut part over the other side, so the line was straight and even all the way across.
Then I cut the thick collar part off so the tank top would be more relaxed looking.
As you can see, I did the same thing here as I did with the bottom; about halfway through I folded the cut side over the other one, so the curve was the same all the way across.
After that, I was done!
I’m really happy with how it turned out!
And, of course, I had to throw in some pictures of Angel and Perry “helping.”
Haha, I caught her mid-blink I think

Hope you guys like how the tank top turned out! It wasn’t too difficult, but I thought it would be nice just to give you guys some of the little tips that I used to ensure even cuts.
Have you ever cut T-shirts to make tank tops? How did they turn out?
Have a great day! (:
