A Pop of Pink for Spring

The cherry blossoms are in bloom at my university, and everything is starting to look like spring! I am so happy that all of the flowers are blooming – it’s definitely my favorite time of the year. Growing up, I had three cherry blossom trees at my house, and they always bloomed on or around my birthday, which made me so happy. As you all probably know, I absolutely love flowers, so I was always so excited that my favorite trees bloomed on my birthday. I’m so lucky to attend my university, because all of the buildings are so beautiful. It’s even more breathtaking when all of the flowers start blooming – especially the quad due to all of the trees.
For today’s post I was inspired by the Pantone color of the year, and Glossier (by the way, if you haven’t heard of them before, check oucheck out their unique beauty products)! Both hues of pink are so pretty, so it was a lot of fun to incorporate the petal-pink color. It goes perfectly with my school’s cherry blossoms, and it was a lot of fun hanging out there with Joycie (check out her blog here!) while taking some photos. I’m so glad one of the colors of the year is rose quartz, because it’s a color that I like to wear all the time since it goes with my skin tone so well. I have a lot of things in the color, so it was hard to find only a couple of things to wear in that color!

I’ve had this maxi skirt for a little while now, and I love it so much! I got it from Pacsun, and the pale pink is so beautiful, and goes with so many things. The pleats are also so cute, and the slits give it a nice breezyness. The material is really sheer, but there’s another layer that hits about mid-thigh so there’s no underwear disasters.
This crop top is from Forever21, and is one of my favorites, because I can pair it with so much. It has a pretty floral pattern with a couple of different shades of pink, so it looks nice with whatever it’s paired with. I especially like it with this outfit, because it has both pale pink flowers, and also darker ones that go nicely with my jacket.
I got my maroon leather jacket from Nordstrom, and it’s definitely a staple in my wardrobe. It can be paired with dresses, skirts, leggings, jeans…the list goes on and on. It’s also surprisingly very warm, so it’s perfect for this time of year, when the weather continuously goes between hot and cold.

I of course had to wear my favorite lipstick, Angelic Nude from Tarte, since it’s one of the prettiest pink lipsticks that I have come across. It pairs so well with any makeup look, and it’s super moisturizing. I also used some pale pink Urban Decay eyeshadow, which is pretty much my favorite makeup look since it’s so quick and easy to do.
It’s been raining non-stop this last couple of weeks, so we definitely lucked out in timing these photos! Just as I was walking back to my dorm it started pouring again. It seems like March showers are going to bring April flowers this year, which is just as well with me since my birthday is early April!
I also decided to wear my favorite letter necklace with this outfit, because it matches so well! This is definitely one of my favorite necklaces, and I’ve had it forever. I don’t really remember where I got it from since I’ve had it for so long! The poor chain isn’t the best anymore, so I actually need to get another hook to fix it, but it still works.
It’s a lot more fun walking to class when you get to walk through the quad, and I don’t find myself dreading it as much. Everyone always seems happier, too, since everything is so pretty and bright!
This is one of my favorite places in the quad, because the little path with the benches is so adorable! The cherry blossoms arch over the path, so it’s always nice and shady.
I just can’t get enough of these cherry blossoms!
Well, there you have it – my pop of pink outfit for the spring! I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and love cherry blossoms as much as I do! They are, as I’m sure I have expressed thoroughly, my favorite trees, and I’m so happy it’s almost spring. This year is flying by so quickly; I can’t believe my birthday is in less than a month! It seems like Christmas was just yesterday, and here we are already to St. Patrick’s Day and Easter!
Are you excited for spring?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Lampshading: How to Style a Turtleneck

Before I get into this post, I just wanted to let you guys know that I got into the study abroad program I applied for in San Sebastián, Spain! I found out on Saturday, so now I’m just waiting to hear back from the London program, and depending on what they say, I’ll choose between the two! At least now I know for sure that I’ll be studying abroad this summer. I am so, so, so excited!! Both locations would be a blast, so I don’t think I can go wrong with either program. Hopefully I hear back from the London program soon, though, so I can decided and start getting ready for the program I choose, because they are both coming up in about 5 months! That really isn’t long, and I like to prepare early, so I’m itching to make a decision.
I also just found out last night that I got into my major, which is International Relations! I am so relieved to finally find out that I got in, because now I can start planning even more for my future. As you all can tell, planning makes me very happy haha. I went out last night with my friends and got ice cream to celebrate, and I ate way too much, but I was too happy to care! I just wanted to update you guys really quickly, because I’m just so happy! 🙂

Now moving on to the post at hand: you may have heard the term “lampshading” here and there, and you’re probably thinking uh, why would I want to look like a lamp? When I first heard of this, I was super confused as to what it actually meant, so I looked around, and I am loving this trend! It just basically refers to wearing an oversized turtleneck sweater, with either tights and boots, or knee high boots. I always wear mine with sweater tights for warmth, but I think they also look so cute with knee high boots! I have really been wanting to get a pair of knee high boots because they can dress up any outfit, and they are just really cute in general.

When it comes to sweaters, I usually always go for more neutral colored ones, so I really wanted to try something new with this electric blue colored one! It’s great to brighten up your wardrobe in the winter, and it makes my hair pop, which is really nice. I got this sweater from H&M.
I usually wear this sweater with my sweater tights from Nordstrom, but it can also be worn with leggings! Whichever you prefer will be really cute, because you can’t go wrong with these sweaters.

I like to wear simple statement jewelry with my sweater, because I want the main focus to be the turtleneck aspect, and the color. Here, I have a couple of my favorite rings: my moon and star one from Tilly’s, my vine ring I always wear, and also a geode ring one of my best friends got me. I like the eclectic collection of all of them when they are put together!

Keeping my hair in a half bun also keeps it out of my face, which is really nice, and adds a little complexity to the look. Turtleneck sweaters also look really nice with your hair pulled slicked back into a ponytail, for a more chic look! I actually did that today with this outfit, and I love how it looks. You can also always go for an effortless down ‘do!

Here, I’m just wearing my classic baby pink bag from Ted Baker, since really anything goes with this sweater. It gives it a bit more of a girly look, but I think pairing this with a dark bag could make it look super cool as well. I was wearing this out during the day, so I tend to go for lighter colored bags when I am running errands. This one also happens to basically contain my life, so it’s easier to grab when I know I’ll need random little keepsakes from my purse.

I like to wear my classic combat boots from Steve Madden with this outfit, because it gives the look a bit more of a grunge style to it, but if you pair different shoes with a turtleneck, it creates a whole different feel to the outfit! Thigh high boots make it look super chic, booties can add a really cute night-out look, and I love my combat boots when I wear this during the day.

Those are my tips on styling an oversized turtleneck sweater, and how to achieve the lampshade trend that everyone is talking about! It’s a bit of a strange urban trend – I’ve seen it a lot in downtown Seattle – but I think it is so cute, and works for everyone. It seriously feels like you’re wearing a blanket all day, and is perfect for a cold winter day when you just want to cuddle in a huge sweater, but still look cute!
Do you like turtleneck sweaters?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Dressed-Up Winter Look

I cannot believe it is February already. January really flew by, but overall it was a pretty good start to the year! It was one of the busiest months I’ve had in a while, which probably sets the tone for a very busy year. That is just fine with me, since it means a lot of opportunities! I just turned in my application to my major, as well as two for study abroad programs this summer. I applied to a program in London, and one in San Sebastián, Spain, so hopefully I get one. I will keep you guys posted!
As for today’s post, I’m going to be sharing an outfit that I wear a lot in the winter when I want to look a little more dressed up, or just feel like looking nice!

I thought the Seattle skyline looked so cool in this photo!
As in my Casual Winter Outfit, this is the cowl that I made myself with giant yarn! It is seriously my newest obsession, and I really want to make a blanket out of giant yarn!
My sweater is from Nordstrom, and it is definitely one of the staples in my wardrobe! It goes with most anything, can be dressed up or down, and is super comfortable!

My booties are from Nordstrom Rack, and they are super comfortable! I am super picky with shoe comfort, so I was really happy to find these.
This is the ring that I always wear, and I believe I got it at Tilly’s, but it’s been a long time! It’s a vine ring, and is one of my all-time favorites. I also always forget to take off my Fitbit when I take outfit pictures! The thing never really leaves my wrist, anyway.
My skirt is from H&M, and I love the burgundy color of it. Burgundy and maroon have both been two of my favorite colors clothes-wise for a while now. They are so pretty for the fall and winter, so I try and wear them as much as possible during both seasons!
I’m also wearing sweater tights here from Nordstrom, and ohmygosh if you don’t have sweater tights, you seriously need to get some! They amazingly enough keep you super warm, and they are so soft and cozy. I wear them all the time during the winter, because they allow me to wear cute skirts and dresses that I probably wouldn’t wear otherwise due to the cold!
All in all, this is one of my go-to looks when I want to look more put together, and can’t find an excuse to wear yoga pants and a sweater to something. These colors are all so pretty for winter, and work well really well together.
What do you like to wear in the winter when you have to look more dressed up?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Casual Winter Outfit

The weather is still pretty cold here in Seattle, so I have been dressing in layers. My brother actually lives in Virginia, and he has over 26 inches right now, so I really shouldn’t complain about the cold! I cannot believe the snow storm that is happening right now back East, so if you’re there, I hope you are doing well!
I thought it would be good idea to share what I’ve been wearing this winter, so today I’m going to be doing a little OOTD!
I wear this outfit probably every week (oops), but when you’re in college, you tend to recycle OOTD’s pretty frequently!
Scarf: I actually crocheted it myself with giant yarn!
Sweater: Pacsun
T-Shirt: Pacsun
Jeans: Paige jeans from Nordstrom
Shoes: Macy’s
This cowl has been my favorite thing this winter! It’s so chunky and warm, which is perfect for this colder weather we’ve been having! I always feel so much warmer when I have a scarf on, are you the same way?
These shoes are always a go-to for me, because they go with everything! I really need to get a new pair of booties, though, because I’ve had these for so long.
We’ve had a couple of sunny days, so I am really dreading going back to the rain here in the city! The little rays of sunshine that have poked through the clouds have been so nice, and I’m excited for the spring, even though I have been loving giant sweaters and scarves!
What have you been wearing this winter?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

OOTD: Wicked Night

A couple of nights ago, I surprised my mom early for her birthday with tickets to go see the musical, Wicked! I missed her birthday last year because I was already moved into my dorm, so I wanted to make up for it this year. We have both always wanted to see the musical as well, so it was perfect!
Here’s what I wore for the night:
 Top: Nordstrom
Skirt: Nordstrom
Necklace: Local marketplace
Watch: Fitbit
 Lipstick: Mac Retro
Bracelet: Alex and Ani
The show was so great and a really cool back story to the Wizard of Oz; overall, I’m so glad we went and saw it! It was a really fun night, and we got dessert afterwards at a really fancy restaurant! Both my mind and taste buds were very happy. I’m so glad I was able to surprise my mom, too! Now that I’ve been to a Broadway musical, I definitely want to go to more! They are a lot different from movies, obviously, but they are just as entertaining and have a different feel to them. I was also so impressed with all of their voices – they were truly amazing!
Have you ever been to a broadway show?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

California Outfit Diary

While in California for VidCon, I made sure to take pictures of my outfits everyday so I could show you an outfit diary! The weather was actually pretty mild, and not as hot as it has been in Oregon, so that was definitely weird for me. Although it wasn’t as warm, it was definitely a lot more muggy! Walking to the convention center in the morning could get pretty warm just because of the humidity, but overall the weather was really great for being able to wear cute outfits. So without further ado, let’s get into the pictures!

Our first day was spent shopping a little bit, and just kind of relaxing around the hotel!
Crop top: Top Shop (please say that out loud because it’s so fun)
Shorts: Old Levi’s from my mom that I made into shorts
Blouse: This is actually my mom’s as well, and I think she got it from JC Penny’s!

I was SO excited about all of the palm trees, because I absolutely love them!
Shoes: Birkenstocks
Bag: Nordstrom
This was the first day of VidCon, and if you couldn’t tell, I was ecstatic!
Dress: Free People
Shoes: Kohl’s (for $10!!)
This dress also has pockets! That was seriously so nice and convenient to have all day.
I loved how my hair turned out this day!

This was day two of VidCon!
Romper: Pacsun
Shoes: Kohl’s (again for $10!)

Necklaces: The purple one is from a local farmer’s market, and the other one was made by Joycie!

I also really love how my hair turned out this day

I think this was my favorite outfit! I wore this on the third and final day of VidCon, and I’m so happy with how the full look came together.
Dress: Free People
Necklace: A little independent jewelry maker

The back of this dress is amazing!

I decided to wear a couple of flash tattoos this day since the back was so open! Now I’m really tempted to get a real tattoo there…

I also put another flash tattoo on my wrist! And ohmygosh it took about forty-five minutes to do my hair (you can ask Joycie who had to put up with me while I braided my mane…) but I’m so glad I took the time to do this hairstyle because it really completed the look!

We went to Disneyland on the fifth day and found Tinkerbell’s little garden, so of course we had to take OOTD’s there!
Shirt: Nordstrom
Shorts: Nordstrom
Bag: Ted Baker

 Sunglasses: Forever 21

We were shopping and traveling the sixth day, so I didn’t have a chance to take an OOTD, and I was just wearing one of my old tropical print dresses, so I didn’t figure you all would want to see that. But overall, I had a blast in California! The trip was exhausting, but so, so, so incredible! I cannot wait to go back next year for VidCon! 🙂

What was your favorite outfit?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day!

OOTD: Flowers and Fountains

It’s no secret how excited I have been for spring and warmer weather, and I have definitely been taking advantage of that by wearing all of my spring dresses! Here is (yet another) outfit I wore the other day when it was a little cloudy out, but still nice!
I haven’t told you guys, but I’m a secret duck whisperer.

Dress: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan: Aeropostal
Booties: Nordstrom
I really love wearing this long cardigan with dresses on days where it’s not quite warm enough to only wear a dress! It’s also a great neutral that goes with pretty much everything! The crochet is so pretty, too, and I love the pattern of it.
You might also notice that I got a whole new look for my blog! I’m so happy with it, and it was definitely time for a change! I have gotten really serious about my blog this past year, so I wanted a template that was more clean and simple, but still had some nice color to it. Let me know what you think! I am in love with it 🙂
Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day!

19th Birthday Snaps

I am now officially nineteen. What?! When I woke up yesterday it actually hit me that I’ll now reply “nineteen” to the question “How old are you?” Twenty will most likely be much more scary, but I think nineteen is significant because it means I have been an adult (okay, legally) for a whole year. It was also my very first birthday away from home, which was really strange! I ended up having a wonderful birthday, and got to go out with my two best friends during spring break a couple of weeks ago to celebrate with them as well.

My outfit that I wore!

Good company meant lots of smiles!
Look at how beautiful my risotto was. It tasted as good as it looked!
They even put a candle on my creme brûlée!

I would just like to point out the man in the top left corner…
And again….
The exact moment my candle went out before I blew it out!
I had such a wonderful evening with my two best friends, and I’m so glad I got to celebrate early with them. As you get older, you start to realize who is truly important in your life, and who really cares for you! And even though it gets more difficult, spending time with them is really the best thing in the world.

On my actual birthday, one of my best friends and my floor mates in my dorm threw me a little surprise birthday party! I was so surprised, and super happy! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to take any pictures but it was caught on camera! If I end up putting it into a vlog I will definitely post it here. My parents also surprised me (and brought my dogs!) so that was so great as well.

Thank you as well to all of you who have wished me a happy birthday! I had a wonderful day overall, and I also got the CANON T5I!!!!! I cannot contain my excitement, so expect lots of pictures soon.

Also, if you would like to see it, I filmed a ‘Get Ready With Me’ for my birthday!

Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

OOTD: Cold-Shoulder Romper

Today was a record high so far this year! I mean, the temperature that set that record was 70 degrees fahrenheit (about 21 degrees celsius for those of you on a different scale), so it’s not like today was a fantastically hot day…But it was still nice to have some sunshine and a warm day! My mom and I actually went shopping yesterday, and I got to wear one of the rompers I bought since it was so nice!

Romper: Pacsun

Bracelet: Forever 21

My necklace was actually a gift, so I’m not sure where it’s from 🙁

Shoes: These are actually a DIY I did the other day. Post to come soon hehe.

Sneak peak of these watercolor shoes! I’m so excited to share how I did this with you guys! 🙂

I’m so glad the weather is finally warming up! It’s already almost the end of spring break, though, so that’s really sad! This quarter should be fun so it shouldn’t be too bad jumping back into classes, and it also helps that my birthday is coming up, as well as Easter! Spring is probably my favorite season because there are so many exciting things going on, and everything feels so new and fresh. Hopefully this spring will be a good one!

What is your favorite thing about spring?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

OOTD: Springing Out of Winter

We’ve definitely had a couple of cooler days this month, but so far in March the weather has been really nice, and it looks like it’s going to be a warm spring (knock on wood!) this year. This outfit is great for the transition into spring because it’s perfect for the awkward days where it’s really warm in the sun, but still pretty cool in the shade!
Sweater: Nordstrom
Shorts: Nordstrom
Shoes: Nordstrom Rack

This outfit is perfect for a chillier spring day, and it’s super comfortable as well! I love how these shorts fit, and the color is great as well. I’m also loving my booties, and I think I’ll get a lot of wear out of them this spring and summer. Again, if it isn’t already blatantly obvious, I am so excited for spring! My birthday is coming up (April 8th), as well as Easter, so I’m going to have so many chances to dress up which I’m really excited about! Finals are also finally over and spring break has officially started! I’ll be able to catch up on sleep and see some of my best friends, so expect a lot of fun posts this coming week 😉
What are you most excited for this spring?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a great day! 🙂
