DIY: T-Shirt Cutting

Hey guys!
So a few weeks ago I cut an over-sized T-shirt to make it a cute tank top! I actually made the T-shirt myself (well I put the quote on it, I didn’t actually sew it together or anything) but wanted it to be a tank top. So I decided to cut it! I have a tank top that’s a very similar shape and I love it because it’s really versatile; I definitely wanted this T-shirt to look the same!
T-shirt before I cut it

I made the stencil using my Cricut machine. As you can see, the paint bled through the lines, but I actually like how it did that! The awkward little dot was supposed to be a star. I know, it really doesn’t look anything like one, but oh well.

I used these dye’s to make the quotes.
For the dye, I first mixed the blue and green (using more blue) and lightened the resulting color with white. I painted it on the shirt, let it dry over night, and bada bing it was done.
For the cutting, I first cut off the sleeves. But I turned it inside out first so I could see the seems better, cutting on the inside of the seems so they were no longer part of the shirt. It provided a helpful guideline so it was even on both sides.
Next, I turned it outside in again, and cut off about four inches or so from the bottom.
Tip: about halfway through cutting the bottom, I folded the already-cut part over the other side, so the line was straight and even all the way across.
Then I cut the thick collar part off so the tank top would be more relaxed looking.
As you can see, I did the same thing here as I did with the bottom; about halfway through I folded the cut side over the other one, so the curve was the same all the way across.
After that, I was done!
I’m really happy with how it turned out!
And, of course, I had to throw in some pictures of Angel and Perry “helping.”
Haha, I caught her mid-blink I think

Hope you guys like how the tank top turned out! It wasn’t too difficult, but I thought it would be nice just to give you guys some of the little tips that I used to ensure even cuts.
Have you ever cut T-shirts to make tank tops? How did they turn out?
Have a great day! (:

Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer Review

Hello everyone!  Today I am finally putting up this review! I have been planning on doing it for weeks now, so I’m excited to get it up! (:
I have always struggled with finding a concealer I like; I have gone through countless products and have never truly been satisfied. I have pretty bad dark circles, it runs in the family, and creases under my eyes, so it has been a long and brutal (okay, I’m exaggerating, but it has been pretty hard) journey trying to find a concealer that I am satisfied with.
After trying many different products, I decided to ask one of the makeup artists at Sephora for her opinion, and she suggested the Make Up For Ever Full Cover concealer.
Yes, it is on the more expensive side (it costs $32), but I have tried everything under the sun, so I decided to splurge a bit. She also said that one tube has lasted her two years, and if I wasn’t satisfied I could bring the tube back anytime. I was sold.
Now, after using it, I understand how it has lasted her two years! You only need to use a little dot size (I use about the size of a Q-Tip head) to fully cover dark circles. I love that fact because I don’t wear a lot of makeup- just some BB cream for protection against the sun and this concealer, so I don’t look like a zombie.
I have it in the lightest shade, and I believe it’s called “Pink Porcelain.” It does come in a really large range of colors as well. The color I have doesn’t have a yellow tinge, which is great for me because yellow-y concealers tend to look terrible on my skin. I have a very pink undertone, so this color is perfect.  It also goes on smoothly and blends in really well.
                       Before:                                                                                       After

As you can see, the concealer really brightens up underneath my eyes. It doesn’t cake up and lasts all day; it’s really a great product!
And sorry I look so mean in the “after” picture, haha it’s so hard for me to keep a straight face, so I oftentimes concentrate too hard!
Here is a happier picture (: I just wanted to have a picture with a straight face so you guys could see the comparison.
All in all, I love this concealer, and really recommend it, especially if you have struggled with trying to find a great product to cover up underneath your eyes, or any blemishes you might have. It is my new favorite concealer!
Pros:
-Range of colors
-Goes on smoothly
-Doesn’t cake
-Lasts all day
-Covers dark circles (and blemishes) completely
Cons:
-On the more expensive side (but worth every penny!)
Have you ever tried this product? If so, how have you liked it? If not, what is your favorite concealer?
Have a great day! (:

My Favorite Quotes

Hello everyone! So tonight I was planning on posting a review of a concealer I recently bought, but (as usual) it’s taking so long to download the pictures. Consequently, tomorrow, I will have to try and take some more pictures of the actual product with a different camera and see how that goes…

But I still wanted to post tonight, so I decided to share my favorite quotes! I actually have a bunch of quotes around my mirror so that inspired me to share some of them with you guys.

I really love this quote – it really resonated with me when I first heard it. I’m always really nervous about trying new things (like starting this blog!) so I find this quote really reassuring. Who knows where life will take you! Never be afraid to fulfill your wildest dreams because you’ll probably end up in a great place, even if it’s not where you thought it would be!

I think this quote is so great because it kind of sums up the whole Feminist Movement and the breaking of the “Cult of Domesticity” here in America in the early-mid 1900s (haha sorry to spew a bunch of history – I took a really hard American History class this past year, and that was one of our last units, so it’s still in my head). It’s really inspiring too because it shows women can do great things when we speak up for what we believe in!

This quote is so inspiring because we as humans are so afraid of failure, so if that component was taken out of the life experience, imagine how many dreams people would fulfill everyday! I imagine there would be many more dare devils out there! I think the world would be a happier place as well if not so many people were afraid of failure. I have definitely struggled with that fear! I think we all have; it’s such a scary thing putting yourself out there with the knowledge that you could fail. But I think this quote and the first one go together so well, because if you attempt to do something great, and you don’t completely succeed, it doesn’t mean you’ll end up in a horrific place.
Haha, sorry if some of you really hate all of this inspirational talk. I really didn’t mean to bore you guys, but it’s fun to talk about what inspires me to work toward my dreams!
Which quotes inspire you? And, what would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
Have a great day! (:

Outfit of the Day: Lunch With the Girls

Good afternoon! Today I wanted to finally post an outfit that I wore to lunch a couple of weeks ago. I just haven’t gotten around to it, so I decided to sit down this morning and post it!

This is actually one of my favorite outfits; the green and orange go so well together. These shorts are super comfortable as well! And I love the ruffle detail on the bottom of the shirt. I got both the shirt and shorts at Nordstrom, and my sandals at Pacsun.
For jewelry, I picked pieces that were more “rustic” looking. The necklace was a gift from a friend, so I’m not sure where she got it. I have seen similar looking necklaces at Fuego, however. The little bracelet is from Macy’s – I actually got it in a set of bangles, but I wanted to keep it more simple.
Just a closer look at the necklace! I absolutely love it and wear it a lot.
Hehe, just thought I would throw this one in there because my little kitten, Perry, decided to photobomb! (:
Have a great day! (:

Finally, Senior Photos!

As promised, this post contains my senior photos! We finally got them back from the photographer and I’m really happy with them! I have seven of them to share, as that is all she gave us for online use. We got our chosen prints today and they look great! So, here we go!

This one was taken with my Jeep that I adore (:
Okay, I cannot explain how hard it was at first to take a picture with a straight face! I definitely struggled.
This is our neighbor’s horse Bella (: She is a sweetheart! I love horses so much. When I was little, I had a sweater with a big ol’ horse head on it. Needless to say, my mom had to wash it a lot because I wanted to wear it all the time! I was a weird kid.
I really love this one, as you guys can probably tell, because I have made it my profile picture for pretty much everything!
This one is also one of my favorites! I love the reflection in the pond.
Okay, so this is probably a pose I would never do, but the photographer said it would look cute with my shoes and my dress, and I have to agree–now that I see the result! I love these shoes so much, which is odd, because I’ve never been the kind of girl who loves high heels. Boots, yes, but heels, definitely no. They are Steve Maddens and I believe I got them at Macy’s. This is actually my winter formal dress that I got from Nordstrom as well!
I really like this one as well! But let me tell you, it was not comfortable laying there, because it sloped toward the creek and there were tons of rocks and twigs. And we didn’t really have time to move them, because the sun was moving really quickly and the light was fading. I don’t know, I’m not a photographer, so I just listened, lied down, and smiled!
Well that is all of the online ones! There are definitely some that I wish I could share with you guys because you can see the beautiful scenery, like the ones she took of me in the creek. I’m really more of an outdoorsy girl so I was in heaven just being able to hang out by our creek and take pictures!
Sorry if I totally bored you guys just looking at my photos! I really wanted to share them, though, because I had such a great time! Anyway, I hope you guys have a great day! (:
Oh, and also a side note, what other posts would you guys like to see? Let me know, I’m happy to do them! (:

Busiest Week of My Life!

Oh boy. So this whole week, and the one before it for that matter, have been quite crazy. One of my best friends got married yesterday, as I have mentioned in previous posts, and the week leading up to the wedding was filled with preparations! First off, I was the maid of honor so I had a ton of stuff to do, and secondly, she’s my neighbor so I was over at her house getting her property ready, since it was being held in her yard (we all live on acreage and she has a beautiful, big back yard). All in all it was an insane week! Sorry I haven’t been able to post a lot lately!
Even though it was extremely busy, it was also a lot of fun. I am so happy for the newlywed couple but it was definitely bittersweet: they are moving (well as of this morning have moved) to California! I have basically grown up with her so it was so hard to say goodbye. I know that they will have great fun there, though. And cell phones make it very convenient to call anytime!
Goodbyes are just so hard for me! I get pretty emotional when it’s with someone who I have known for a long time. She is basically my sister so it was that much more difficult. I teared up a lot! And one of the things I dislike the most is crying in front of people so I felt so exposed. Haha but so many people were crying so it was okay.
Well, I just wanted to do a little check in and let you guys know where in the world I have been. I am now going to go pass out for, like, twelve hours and then do nothing for a day! Hope you all have a great week! (: I will make sure to post more this week!

Outfit of the Day: Bridal Shower!

So I have been extremely busy this past week! I am the maid of honor for one of my best friends and her wedding is coming up next Saturday. The date has suddenly snuck up us, so we have been quite busy!  Today I am posting pictures of my whole outfit that I wore for the bridal shower this afternoon. It was actually pretty cool and breezy until about three o’clock today so I didn’t want to wear a strapless dress like I had originally planned, so, naturally, that resulted in a frantic raid through my closet to find something suitable for the weather. The result was this look:

I am actually pretty happy with what I came up with! It was comfortable and not too heavy or light so I was the perfect temperature all day. The jean vest is American Rag and I got it from Macy’s, the shirt (it has a floral print on it but it’s hard to tell in the picture) is from Nordstrom, and the skirt is from Charlotte Russe. I love how the yellow flowers on the shirt pick up the color from the skirt; it makes it all fit together very nicely. Here is a closer look at my jewelry:

The little bracelet is actually a gift from one of my friends. I believe she bought it in California but I don’t know where specifically. The earrings and the necklace are both from Forever 21. I wanted to go for something edgier that still had a girly vibe so I thought these were perfect!

Let me know what you think! (:

Polka-Dotted Toes

So the other night I decided to paint my toenails, but I didn’t want just a plain color because that’s what I always do! So I decided I would put simple polka-dots over a baby blue color called “bikini so teeny” by Essie. Here’s a picture of how they turned out…

I really love how the white and blue go together and it’s a nice change from just one plain color! I used the white nail art pen from Sally Hanson to do the little polka-dots. I did try to have a method to putting on the polka-dots but sometimes it was a little hard to keep a straight line. And my pinky toe nail is basically nonexistent so I just kind of haphazardly dotted the edge! Overall, I’m happy with how they turned out!

My Turn!

So yesterday I had my senior picture photo shoot! It was a lot fun. We went down to a creek that goes through my family and neighbor’s property and took some pretty pictures. We also went up to my neighbors barn/pasture to take pictures with their horses! It was a lot of fun, especially since I love horses. We also took pictures of me with my jeep! That was awesome, I absolutely love my jeep.
I just can’t believe that I had my senior pictures done; I’m the youngest in my family so it is so surreal that it’s finally my turn to go through my senior year of high school. I remember when my brother was a senior and I just couldn’t believe it – I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Now that it’s my turn, I just can’t wait to be done with high school!
I plan on posting some pictures once the photographer (a family friend of ours, she’s super sweet and is fantastic at what she does) hands the photos over to us. So stay tuned! I’m super excited to see how they turned out, and I love the outfits I wore. It was also a really nice day, so it couldn’t have gotten any better. Unless of course Taylor Lautner or Jack and Finn Harries showed up 😉
And tomorrow I am going to my really great friend’s, more of an older sister, last wedding dress fitting before her wedding! I am her Maid of Honor, and her wedding is July 27th! I am so excited, but also a little sad because she’s moving after her wedding. But she is transferring to a great college with her fiance so I’m really happy for her! We’ll still be able to talk on the phone and text so it won’t be too bad. But she’s my neighbor as well so it’ll be a little weird without seeing her everyday! Oh well, pretty soon, it will, yet again, be my turn to go off to college!

Nice to meet you.

So, I figured I should begin my blog by introducing myself. My name is Kendra and I am seventeen years old. I know, I don’t have too many years under my belt but I am trying to take it day by day.
I am approaching my senior year of high school, and cannot wait to be graduated. I know, I know, it is bad to wish your life away but I am very ready to move on to college. Quick facts about me: I am a swimmer, I play the viola, and I love to read and write. My life at home is quite hectic due to the three big dogs we have and four cats to go along with them. We have a huge Saint Bernard who is a giant teddy bear. But he also loves to bark, and man, can he bark. My family also has two Akitas, who are a little over a year old, so they are full of energy. We actually just a kitten as well, and he is a little Spitfire. Our other three cats have not taken a liking to him yet, but we are getting there. I live with my mom and dad but I have an older brother who lives in Virginia. He’s all grown up and living on his own. Well, I don’t want to bore you with my whole life story. Moving on!
I have always been an extremely shy person; I do not open up to people quickly and often times find it difficult talking to people I just meet. Once I do become close to someone, however, I am completely open and, yes, a bit crazy. So, I wanted to start this blog to get over my shyness and strive to fulfill my dreams. I am in love with reading, and naturally, writing so I figured blogging would be the perfect fit. I have absolutely no idea what I want to do with my life, so I am hoping blogging will help me lay out my life and find my path. Cheesy, yes, but effect I am hoping it will be. Just thought I would throw in some Yoda talk to spice it up.
I want to go out and truly live my life. I figure if I can learn more about myself and the things that I love, I will be able to find my way. So, voilà, this blog was born. I will be blogging about my life, my interests, things that I do, when I have a great day or maybe even when I have a horrible day. Life is about treasuring the wonderful moments, but also realizing they aren’t all fabulous. I try to keep this in mind when I’m having a bad day, because I can realize that tomorrow could be the best day of my life. My blog will be about it all, so I hope you enjoy! Thanks for reading!
Oh! Also a quick note on the name. When I was a baby, my dad gave me the nickname “Stinkerbug.” I have no clue why, he said it just fit, so it has stuck ever since. It is something dear to me, so I thought it was appropriate to name my blog “It’s a Bug’s Life.” Bye for now! (:
