Jaclyn Hill x Morphe Palette | Swatches, Review, and a Look!

I’ve been a fan of Jaclyn Hill for at least four years now, so when she announced that her palette was finally coming out, I was super excited. She’s been working on it for two years now, so the anticipation was definitely high! I bought my palette right at 8 a.m. on the launch date and it came in the mail last week. I filmed a video that afternoon, which you can watch below!

Of course I wanted to do a blog post on it as well and share some photos and swatches! I definitely wasn’t thinking, and didn’t actually take photos of all the swatches, so I had to screenshot them from the video – sorry! I took photos of the palette itself though, and of the look I created using the palette.

I did both brush and finger swatches!

Overall, I really love this palette! Sometimes the matte colors were a little bit splotchy when I swatched them, but I think it was a combination of me not having enough product on my finger, and the fact that they’re so buildable. They weren’t splotchy at all on my eyes, and they builded up so nicely. They also blended really well! It was super effortless to create this look, and I was so impressed with the shimmers in this palette. They went on so well with both finger and brush.
I really love all of the colors, too! Even though there’s a couple colors in the palette that look really similar on my skin, I do appreciate that there are a couple of options to similar shades. There’s so many looks you can create, and it’s definitely a palette I’ll be bringing with me when I travel so I can have options with the looks I want to create. There’s so many neutral looks you can make, as well as more bold, smokey looks. I’m really glad I have this because I definitely don’t have a palette that’s this big and versatile!
This is the first Morphe palette I’ve gotten, and I’m impressed, so I’ll probably try more Morphe products in the future. The only thing I wish this palette had is a mirror so I could get ready literally anywhere. I have other mirrors, though, so it isn’t too big of a deal. That probably would’ve made the price go up, too, so I can’t complain too much!
This palette retails for $38, but there’s so many coupon you can find through Morphe affiliates on YouTube, and Jaclyn herself has one which is JACATTACK (I’m not sponsored to say this!). This code gets you 10% so definitely use it! The palette is sold out right now, but will be restocked on Tuesday, July 18th at 8AM PST! I recommend getting this palette whether you are a fan of Jaclyn or not – you will not be disappointed!
What do you think about the palette?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Concealer Review

Tarte has been one of my favorite brands for a while now, as I am sure you are well aware of. I rave about every product I have tried from them, so when I saw their new Rainforest of the Sea collection I was so excited to get my hands on it! I had been using the Maracuja Concealer for probably two years, so I definitely felt like it was time to change things up. Since I haven’t tried a new one in so long, I decided it was time to try something new.

Along with the new concealer, I got a Beauty Blender as well! I was definitely very late to the train, but I’m so glad I finally decided to get one, because it is seriously the best makeup sponge I’ve ever used, and really helps to make my concealer look flawless.

I decided to get the nude beauty blender because I didn’t want the pink one to start looking dirty really quickly. I’m really glad I went with this one because it doesn’t look discolored at all yet!

Okay, can we just talk about the packaging?! The whole collection has the prettiest boxes and bottles. They ombre coloring with the gold lettering is so gorgeous and gives off the impression of high quality right from the start.

The bottle itself is also so pretty. The applicator is a little off-set wand, so I just apply it directly to my under-eye area and blend it in with my damp beauty blender. This product goes on very easily, and blends out so well. It also doesn’t crease at all throughout the whole day, and lasts for 12 hours! It doesn’t advertise that, but mine has been lasting for the whole day while I wear it. I set it with my Elf translucent powder and it does not budge.

Only one layer is needed to cover my dark circles, which is really impressive! My dark circles are very dark no matter how long I sleep, which is very frustrating. I can never seem to get rid of them naturally, so my only option is to cover the suckers up. This product does that flawlessly, though, so I’m very happy with it!

The only “bad” thing I found about this product was the smell. When I first opened the bottle, it smelled kind of chemical-y, or like nail polish. I was initially worried about putting it on my face, but I didn’t have any problems with it whatsoever, and I have now gotten used to the smell.

This concealer comes in 6 different shades and is pretty affordable. While it isn’t the cheapest or most expensive products out there, it works wonders. It’s also very hydrating which is awesome for my dry skin! I also use it to highlight my noise, forehead, and chin and it works great. Again, it blends out very well in those areas and gives my face a nice, natural glow.
Pros:
-Hydrating
-Stays all day
-Covers my dark circles completely
-Easy applicator
-Covers blemishes as well
-Works great as a highlight over my entire face
Cons
-Weird smell at first
I also made a video review about this product, so if you want to see the actual applicator and swatches, make sure to check that out!

Have you tried anything from this new collection yet?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer Review

Happy second day of spring! I’m so happy that it’s officially here – it’s definitely time to start pulling out all of my dresses and skirts! I’m hoping that it’ll be a warm season since winter was pretty cold this year. Speaking of spring, I’m officially on spring break right now, even though I’ve been home for a week since I had early finals this quarter, so it’s nice to be able to relax with my family!
To start this week off, I decided to do a review of a product I recently bought: the Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer from tarte!

I had been using a bronzer from the Body Shop for about three years, and being me, dropped it while I was in a rush to get ready one morning. Naturally, it shattered, and I was forced to trade in my trusty bronzer for something new. In hindsight, this was probably a good thing, because I’m pretty sure the Body Shop bronzer wasn’t the right shade for me. I think it had oxidized over the years, because lately I had noticed that it had become very orange.
Because my skin is pretty pale, it’s hard to find a contour that isn’t too dark. I don’t really use bronzer to make my skin look more tan, especially this time of year, just as a contour on my cheeks, nose, and forehead. Since I want my contour to look natural, it’s important to get a bronzer that is the right color, and one that blends well with my BB cream.
I stopped into Sephora to get a new bronzer, and wasn’t really set on getting a certain brand or product. I knew I wanted to check out the bronzers from Benefit and tarte, and of course I decided on one from tarte because of my love of the brand. I also asked the advice of one of the sales associates, and he recommended this bronzer to me because it’s one of the lightest ones they have, and would be the most complimentary to my skin.

After a couple of swatch tests, I definitely agreed with him, and decided to buy the tarte bronzer. I was initially impressed with the consistency of the bronzer, and the color was really pretty. When I put on my makeup the next day, I used the bronzer and was really happy! It went on very smoothly, was very blendable, and was the perfect color for contour on my skin! I have loved tarte products for years now, so I’m really glad that I ended up liking this bronzer. It also comes in a shimmery shade that is a little bit darker, but I decided the matte one would be better for me. Also, a little bit goes a long way with this bronzer, which is really nice so I won’t use it up quickly!

The swatch on the top is a couple of layers of the bronzer, so it’s definitely build-able if you need a darker shade.

The only downside to this bronzer is there aren’t any other shades, just the Park Avenue Princess shade that I bought. Of course tarte has other bronzers with different colors, so you could definitely check that out if you need something lighter or darker. Luckily this ended up being the perfect color for my skin, but if it hadn’t, I would’ve had to start the whole process of finding a different bronzer again.
I can’t attest to the waterproof part of the bronzer, as I haven’t worn it in the water or anything. I don’t really know how useful it will be to have a waterproof bronzer, and it does seem a bit unnecessary because I probably won’t wear bronzer if I know I’m going to be swimming, or getting really wet. Who knows, though, it might come in really handy one day when it’s humid in the summer haha.

I really like that the packaging itself has a mirror, because I used my other bronzer’s mirror to do my makeup when I didn’t have use of a bigger mirror, like in the car. The packaging is also really high quality, and very sturdy; hopefully when I inevitably drop this bronzer, it wont shatter as well! There’s also a magnet to keep the compact together, and it works really well. Tarte always has really good packaging I have found, and I love all of the natural colors they use, since most of their products are (more or less) natural.
All in all, I really love this bronzer, and I think I have found my new favorite! The shade is perfect for my skin, and the overall texture of the product is really great. Tarte has never let me down, and this product is no exception.

What’s your favorite bronzer?

Thank you so much for reading and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Product Empties!

I am the type of person who gets very set in her ways; I literally eat the same breakfast – oatmeal with peanut butter and dried blueberries – and lunch – greek yogurt parfait with strawberries and blueberries – every. Single. Day. I don’t get tired of it, and usually I end up eating the same dinner on most days, which is either quinoa or rice, edamame or some other type of veggie, and fake chicken (which is so delicious, let me tell you). Beauty products are no different; once I find something that I like, I tend to use it for years and never switch. I don’t think this is necessarily a bad thing, especially since I have such sensitive skin, but it’s something that I’ve noticed lately! I mean, if it ain’t broke why fix it, right?
As I’ve been running out of a lot of my favorite products lately, I decided to keep the empty containers so I could do my first empties post and video! I’ve seen so many other bloggers and YouTubers do these, and I love watching them, so I thought it would be a lot of fun to do them for myself. I adore all of these products – except for one, which we will get into a little later in this post – so I have a lot to say about them!

Make sure and check out the video I did on this, too!

I have used this face moisturizer for a long time, we’re talking like two years. First Aid Beauty used to have just a daily face moisturizer, which I actually liked better than this ultra repair one, but they got rid of it a couple of months ago, and I don’t really know why. It was the perfect amount of moisture for my skin, and this one, I’ve found, is a little too much for my skin. Due to that, I decided to get a different face lotion since I’ve used this one forever, and also because I felt like my face needed something different.

I told you guys about this body lotion in my Keratosis Pilaris post, and I love it so much! It really helps with my KP, and it’s just generally a really great moisturizer. It doesn’t have a smell, which is also really nice for my sensitive skin. I use it right after I get out of the shower, all over my body, and I’m good to go for the rest of the day. Even though it’s meant to help KP, it’s also a really great lotion for your whole body.

This has been my go-to B.B. cream for at least a year now! It works really great with my skin, and has a very slight shimmer that gives my skin a nice glow. It also has SPF 27 which is great to have in order to protect your skin from the sun! I don’t know how much I actually buy into the whole “self-adjusting shade for all skin types” selling point, but the color does match my skin, regardless. It blends in really nicely, and provides a great base for the rest of my makeup, like concealer and bronzer.

Okay, this stuff smells amazing, to the point where I want to bottle up the scent and use it as my perfume. It’s really great for the ends of my hair, which is good since that’s what it’s actually meant to be used for haha. I use about a dime size pump of the cream and put it into the ends of my hair on the days that I wash it – which is every other day. This helps keep the ends of my hair healthy and moisturized, two things that are very important since I color my hair.

I have expressed my love for Tarte before, and this is my favorite mascara! Not only does it make my lashes look great, but it’s supposed to be good for them as well. I actually do think that it helps the general health of your lashes, and helps to condition them. My eyelashes aren’t picky at all when it comes to mascara, however, I found this one and I haven’t felt the need to try any other brands since it works so well! It’s also a huge plus that it’s from Tarte, because as I have preached before, it is a great beauty brand and doesn’t test on animals. The wooden package is also really cool, and environmentally friendly! Yay sustainability!

Usually I get the makeup removing wipes from Burt’s Bees, but this last time I didn’t have time to run to Target, and I was in desperate need for something. I knew that the little District Market on campus had these Yes to Cucumbers facial wipes, so I thought they would be fine to grab. About a week into using these, my face started to get a small rash, and these wipes slightly burned while I used them. In the end, these really messed up my skin because I had a pretty big rash on my cheek, and they just generally stung my face and were pretty abrasive. I thought they would be really nice, because they smelled so fresh, but they were truly terrible for my skin, and it took it a good week to recover from them!

I’m so glad I remembered to not recycle all of these containers after I used them, so I could do my first empties post and video! It felt oddly liberating to recycle all of them at once, and I also enjoyed reflecting back on what I like, wanted to change, and what products I didn’t like at all after using them. I really hope you guys enjoyed this post, and hopefully I’ll remember to do more in the future!

What products have you been using lately?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Champagne Pop Review

I’m so sorry this post is a week and a half late! Work has been absolutely crazy, and I’ve been really busy with last minute preparations for LA. I still cannot believe that I’m going to VidCon! That is for another post, though – today I’m going to tell you about the newest highlight from Becca cosmetics in collaboration with YouTuber Jaclyn Hill, Champagne Pop! You may have heard of it since a lot of people have been going crazy about it (myself included), so I definitely wanted to let you know my thoughts on it!
I have watched Jaclyn Hill’s videos on YouTube for a while now, so when she announced Champagne Pop, I was so excited! A good highlight is what I had definitely been missing in my makeup collection, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
The box is a gorgeous rose gold shade with “drops” of champagne (hence the water droplet overlay for the title picture hehe) all over.
The color shows up a bit better and this picture. The back features a picture of Jaclyn and a little back story to the product!
The whole product packaging itself looks the same as the other Becca highlights, and I love how it looks and feels! It’s super chic and compact.
There’s a little plastic cover over the product when you first open it up. I couldn’t wait to get it off at this point!
 LOOK AT THAT COLOR.
Here’s a swatch on my hand!
It’s seriously such a beautiful shade, and looks so pretty in the sunlight, and also when you aren’t in direct light. I am in love!

Here’s what it looks like in simple natural light – I love how it isn’t super in your face (although you can definitely put more on than I did here!), but it also gives a super pretty glow to your skin. I applied it to the upper apples of my cheeks (is that a thing?) and also to my cupid bow area.
I love how it makes my skin glow a bit, since I have super dry skin that can look too matte sometimes!
Here’s how it looks in direct sunlight!
#highlightonfleek
I really love how this looks like in the sun – it gives you the perfect summer glow!
Overall I am SO satisfied with this product! The consistency is slightly buttery (you know what I mean?) so it goes on really well. I’ve been playing around with how much product to actually put on my brush, and I don’t really think you can go wrong. It gives such a pretty glow to the skin, and looks especially gorgeous in the sun and bright lighting. I’ve noticed my skin also looks much glowy-er in general in regular indoor lighting, and I have gotten many compliments on it!
I was afraid I would be too pale for a highlight, but this shade really compliments the pinker undertones in my skin since it’s more of a rose gold color. Even though it is a rose gold shade, I think it would look really good on people who are darker or have a more olive complexion. It really is a versatile product that can work with a lot of different skin tones!
I really encourage you to get this highlight if you’ve been needing one, or if you want to try a new one out! Becca highlights are known for being really great, and this one definitely lived up to the hype and expectations! I’m very, very pleased with my purchase, and give it two thumbs up!
Do you have a favorite highlight?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Everyday Makeup Routine!

I’ve been wanting to do a post and video about my everyday makeup routine since I really enjoy watching them myself! I also haven’t done a post about makeup and what I’ve been loving lately in a little while, so I thought it would be the perfect time to share my own makeup routine!

I first put on this BB cream from Boscia, and I have really been loving it lately! It’s great because it contains sunscreen (which you need even on cloudy days!) and it’s sheer but build-able, so it’s perfect for day or night!

Then I use my concealer from Tarte (my favorite makeup brand) to cover up any blemishes I have, and also my dark circles under my eyes. These are always bad even when I get ten hours of sleep!

Then I use this fluffy shadow brush and the Elf High Definition Powder to set the concealer underneath my eyes.
This powder is so amazing! It’s a great dupe for the Makeup Forever HD powder, and I just couldn’t be any happier with it.
I use the this Kabuki Face Brush and the High Definition powder to set the BB cream all over my face.
I move on to eyes after that, and line them with this white eyeliner from Wet ‘n Wild. This helps to brighten eyes and make them look bigger!
After that, I curl my eyelashes with this torture device.

Then I coat my lashes with the Gifted mascara from Tarte! This mascara is amazing, and is actually supposed to be good for your lashes as well!

I actually forgot to picture the highlight that I use, but it’s just a white eyeshadow that I put in the corner of my eyes with this large angled brush from Ecotools!

To contour my face, I use this large angled brush and the Tarte bronzer pictured below.

Surprise, surprise, another Tarte product! I’m telling you guys, I’m obsessed. I love this bronzer because it’s the perfect shade for me, and I can use it year round!

I blend in the bronzer with this large face brush, just to make sure there are no harsh lines!

Alright, those are all of the products I use for my Everyday Makeup Routine! This was really fun to film and write about – I think I’ll start doing some more makeup looks once finals are over and I have more time! I put the YouTube video I posted about my routine below, so if you want to see how I actually put on all of those products, take a look! 🙂

What are your go-to products for your everyday makeup routine?

Thank you so much for reading (and watching!), and have a great day! 🙂
