My Work Space

I came across a company called WeWork, a coworking company, which basically provides space and a community for creators! They have a really cool concept, so that inspired me to do a post about my own work space! I also recently did a dorm room tour on my YouTube channel, so I’ll link that at the end, too! 🙂

So this is what my desk looks like as a whole! I do my homework here, and a lot of my writing for blog posts here as well!

Here’s a closer view of underneath the shelf.
Here’s my little fox plant holder! Sadly, there is no plant in it anymore because it died…
I absolutely adore my little pencil and pen holder!
Another closer look underneath the shelf!
My little desk shelf is also home to my beta fish, Khaleesi! She is a “dragon scale beta,” so for all of you Game of Throne fans out there, you get the reference!
This calendar is on the wall adjacent to my desk, so I can keep track of important dates!
This is a quote that’s also on the wall next to my desk! I got it as a graduation present from my parents, and I love it so much! It’s a great reminder to keep working hard at the things I love 🙂
This quote is on the wall as well! Haha it was actually a graduation from my gift from my parents as well…
This little cozy corner is my bed! I actually end up doing a lot of my homework on my bed when it’s been a long day, and I just need to curl up with my Pooh Bear pillow pet 🙂 I also edit a lot of my YouTube videos on my bed!
Here’s a closer look at “the wall,” as my friends call it haha.
My little cozy corner 🙂
Alright, there you have it – my work space and dorm room tour! 🙂 I’m really proud of how my dorm room turned out this year, so I hope you guys like it too!
What’s your favorite part of your room?

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a great day! 🙂

Healthy snacks: Greek Yogurt Parfait

It’s time for another addition to my healthy snacks series! Today I’m going to be sharing with you guys one of my obsessions – greek yogurt parfaits!
I absolutely love eating this whenever I need an afternoon pick-me-up, or honestly anytime I’m hungry…it’s just so yummy!!
Start off by putting about 3 or 4 spoonfuls of plain greek yogurt into the bottom of your bowl. You can put as much or as little as you would like!
Drizzle some honey over the yogurt, and mix it together until it’s smooth.

With whatever berries you would like (I always use blueberries and strawberries, but you can use as many or as little kinds of berries you please), wash them and layer them over the yogurt!
If you use strawberries like I did, I would suggest slicing them up into smaller pieces!
Layer some more yogurt over the berries, and repeat the process of drizzling and mixing the honey in!
Put some more berries on top, and then sprinkle on some granola! I personally love the granola from Kind because it is not only good for you (and gluten free!), but it tastes amazing!
JUST LOOK HOW PRETTY. Looking at these pictures makes me want to eat some now…even though I had some already today…
Alright, there you have it – greek yogurt parfait! This is my personal take on this pretty common recipe, but there’s so many more combinations you can do! I’ve found a lot of different recipes that I want to try out, so stay tuned for them!
What do you like to eat greek yogurt with?
Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

Face of the Day: Hints of Pink

My classes this quarter are honestly really great – on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I don’t have class until 12:30, and on Tuesday and Thursday I start class at 9:30. Consequently, I look much more put together on the days that I start at 12:30! This look is from one of the days when I actually got up in a timely manner, so I felt like putting on some eyeshadow!
I used my Naked 3 palette to create this look – I wanted a subtle smokey eye with pink tones so it wouldn’t look so dramatic for daytime! 🙂
I really like how this look came out because it was perfect for looking just a bit more put together for classes. And, I’ve really been wanting to use my Naked 3 palette more!
I also had some time to do my hair! I’ve really been loving braids lately because they’re so easy to do with any hairstyle.
What is your go-to daytime makeup look?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a great day! 🙂

Healthy Snacks: Avocado Chocolate Pudding

I’m back again today with my Healthy Snack series!
I don’t know about you guys, but chocolate pudding is definitely one of my weaknesses! Ever since I was little I have loved those little pudding cups that my mom would put in my lunch, but being gluten free these past couple of years, I’ve had to avoid pudding! There isn’t any wheat on the ingredients list of most puddings, but some people who are allergic to gluten – like myself – have said that it sometimes causes a reaction when they eat it. So, in order to avoid all of that, I just haven’t really eaten pudding!
However, since starting this healthy snacks series, I actually found a chocolate pudding recipe that uses avocados as the base! I was kind of skeptical at first because I really don’t like avocados, but the end result was super yummy!
All of the ingredients you will need, minus the milk because I forgot to put it in this picture…
Recipe
2 ripe avocados
1/3 cup cocoa powder (I ended up putting in about a tablespoon extra at the end)
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup milk (almond or soy works too!)
1  1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
The whole process is super easy – just peal the avocados and cut them into chunks, put them in the blender, add everything else, and blend! As you can see, I used my magic bullet for this, and everything barely fit! I don’t really have the luxury of having a full sized blender at college, though, so I use my magic bullet a lot!
Funny story – I could not get the cup open after I blended it! I needed to simply open it real quick in order to stir the last bits of avocado around, but the lid would not budge. I had to go and get one of the guys on my floor to open it for me! Apparently magic bullets double as vacuums now.
The end result! When I first tried the pudding, it had a very different flavor, but I got used to it after the third or fourth bite! I absolutely hate avocados, so I was extremely weary of trying this, but oh my gosh it is super yummy! It doesn’t taste exactly like classic chocolate pudding, but it is still just as great. I was super satisfied with the results, and I could have a quick little dessert each night this week without feeling guilty!
Well that is it for this recipe – you guys should really try this one out if you love chocolate! Also, I’m going to try and do a more “savory” snack for the next one since the first two in the series have been sweet.
What are your guilty pleasures when it comes to dessert?

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a great day! 🙂

Why It’s Great Being Single on Valentine’s Day

It’s that time of year again, where all the single ladies (see what I did there) lament and complain about how they don’t have a special someone in their lives. Well, I’m here to tell you that being single on Valentine’s Day is kind of the best thing ever!
1. You can spend the whole day with your girlfriends.
(This is from the show Parks and Recreation, a.k.a. one of my favorite shows)
When you’re in a relationship, sometimes it’s hard to make time for your closest girlfriends; so since you’re single on this day that can be very lonely for people not in relationships, spend the day with your friends! You can make each other feel better about not being in a relationship, and chances are, you’ll have a much more fun day with all of them than you ever would with some guy.
2. If you want to stay in and do nothing all day, go right ahead!
My Valentine’s day will most likely be spent doing exactly this, and I really have no shame about it. The beauty of not having to impress a date is, you can wear your baggiest clothes. All. Day. You don’t have anyone to dress up for (except of course for yourself!), so make the most of it on this day and just don’t try at all. And watch Netflix all day.
3. Treat Yourself.
(Please tell me some of you guys watch this show)
This is also known as “Treat. Yo. Self.” Go out and buy all of the things that a significant other would buy you: jewelry, a nice dinner, a manicure/pedicure, or anything else you might want! This day is all about love, so why not love yourself! It’s perfectly healthy to focus solely on yourself for one day, and being single on Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse!
4. You don’t have to spend hours getting ready for the night.
With all that time you’re saving by not having to get ready for a date, spend it doing something you love. Or, spend it on the couch watching those three extra episodes of Friends (or Parks and Rec because you all should watch it…I promise this post isn’t sponsored by this show)
5. Think of all the money you’re saving.
By being single, you don’t have to go out and get an elaborate gift for anyone, or spend money on a date! Just think of all the better uses that money could go towards, like chocolate, ice cream, movies, popcorn, new comfy pajamas….
Well there you have it, five great reasons why being single on Valentine’s Day is basically the best thing ever! But on a more serious note, don’t worry if you’re not in a relationship because you don’t need to depend on anyone else to have your own happiness! Don’t let a day that pretty much celebrates couples bring you down if you aren’t in a relationship, because there’s really nothing wrong with that! When it’s the right time for you to be in a relationship, and you find a great person to be in one with, it will happen! You guys are all perfect just the way you are (this just got real cheesy, real fast, I apologize.)
Do you have any plans for Valentine’s Day?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a great day! 🙂

January 2015 Favorites

I cannot believe January is over, and February is already here! 2015 is already flying by, but January was actually a really good month for me, so I’m excited to see what the new month will bring!
Below is my January Favorites video, so I hope you guys enjoy! 🙂
What were your January favorites?

Have a great day! 🙂

Healthy Snacks: Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Mini-Sandwiches

The title of this post is about as much of a mouthful as these amazing mini-sandwiches, and trust me, they are a very yummy mouthful. If you love bananas, peanut butter, and chocolate, this snack is for you!
Lately I’ve been really hungry because I’ve been working out a lot, and I have a lot of walking to do for my classes, but I haven’t been wanting to eat unhealthy snacks like chips or anything really sugary. So, I took to Pinterest to find some healthy ideas and wasn’t disappointed! I found a lot, so I decided I’m going to do a “Healthy Snacks” series, and post all of the recipes I try! They will all be gluten free and vegetarian since I’m allergic to wheat, and don’t eat meat (ha ha ha…insert cringe-y face), so anyone can eat them! I’m super excited for this because it means I get to eat a bunch of yummy healthy snacks! Without further ado, here are the Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Mini-Sandwiches!
Ok these little globs are a little piece of heaven! Each bite is filled with the perfect amount of bananas, peanut butter, and chocolate!
The whole process is really simple: start by cutting a couple of bananas into little chucks about 1/4 of an inch thick. Match up the slices for the mini-sandwiches to make sure there is an even amount.
 Look at that peanut butter.

Spread some peanut butter on one little slice, probably about half of a tablespoon.
Put the other slice on top, making a little sandwich.
Once you have made all of the sandwiches, put them on a plate and place them in the freezer for about an hour. (Don’t you just love dorm freezers…)
Melt some chocolate in the microwave, or the stove top – just make sure the chocolate doesn’t get burned! Then dip half of each sandwich into the chocolate. I didn’t take any pictures of this part because it was extremely messy haha. Once all of the sandwiches are dipped, put them back in the freezer for another hour. After they’ve all set, they are ready to eat! I didn’t eat all of them at once of course, so I kept them in a tupperware container in the freezer. I finished them in a couple of days, and they kept just fine!
Alright, so that’s it for the first healthy snack in the series! I have a lot planned, so expect many more in the coming weeks!
What healthy snacks do you like to eat?

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a great day! 🙂

Book Haul!

For Christmas this year, pretty much everyone in my family got me a gift card to Barnes and Noble, and I was pretty much in heaven. Needless to say, I went to Barnes and Noble the day after Christmas to buy some books, so I thought I would share with you guys all of the books I got!
Once I got the gift cards, I immediately went onto my Goodreads account, and checked my “to-read” book list so I could decide which books I should get. These are all of the books I’ve been wanting to read for a little while, and also a few that I saw in the store that looked really good!
This book is about a world in which children who got a sickness develop strange powers years later, and are viewed as evil by society. The main character, Adelina, is a girl from a rich family, but looked down upon by society because she survived the fever and had silver hair afterwards. The children who survive the fever have a marking of some sort, but not all of them develop powers. Adelina believes that she doesn’t have any powers but is proved wrong one day, and is taken in by a group called the Young Elites. This group is made up of young adults who have developed very large powers from the fever, and who fight back against the crown, which wants all of these survivors dead. I am actually almost done with this book, and I have loved it so far!

This book is the sequel to Defy, and ohmygosh is it good! I really love this series, and this book is definitely as good as the first. Ignite again follows Alexa and Damian, and this time there is a threat against their kingdom from people they thought were their allies. Betrayal, love, and suspense are again big themes in this book, and I ended up finishing it in two days! I don’t know what it is about Sara B. Larson’s writing, but it is just so good! I really recommend that everyone read this series because you will love it!
I have heard so much about this book, so I’m really excited to get started with reading it. The main premise behind this book is rich kids going to an island, and getting caught up in lies and accidents. I hope that this book lives up to all of the hype surrounding it, because it sounds like an interesting read!
This book is set in the future, and follows two main characters who get stuck on a foreign planet when their spaceship crashes. They seem to be the only survivors of the crash, and they don’t encounter anyone on the planet. The two, Lilac and Tarver, come from opposite backgrounds; Lilac’s family is extremely wealthy, while Tarver comes from nothing. However, these two have to work together since they are alone in order to find help on the planet.
I haven’t started this book yet, but I’m really excited to because I’ve heard great things!
This book is the sequel to If I Stay, so I don’t really want to give too much away, as some people haven’t read the book and probably want to since the movie came out last year. It simply follows the characters from the first book, and meets up with them a couple of years later after the accident in the first book. I’m suuuuper excited to read this book, because I absolutely adored the first one.
I feel as though this book really needs no introduction, since most people have probably a) heard of it, or b) read it already. It’s written by Blogger and Vlogger Zoe Sugg (Zoella), and is about a girl who is struggling with anxiety after being in a car crash. Her family decides to go to New York for the holidays, and there she meets a boy who changes her outlook on a lot of things.
I’m also really interested in reading this book because there has been a lot of good and bad press surrounding it. I’ll be doing a post on what I think about the whole thing – book and rumors – after I have read it.

I can’t wait to finish all of these books! I’m back at school now so it’s a little hard trying to find time to read for fun, but I am trying!

What books have you guys been reading?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a great day! 🙂

I Sent Out My DNA?!

You might be thinking “What the heck do you mean Kendra?!” but I promise, this isn’t a part of some strange cult. I have always been interested in genetics, ancestors, and things like family history, so I asked for the DNA Kit from Ancestry.com for Christmas. I actually heard about the DNA kit from the show America’s Next Top Model (a guilty pleasure of mine), and have been wanting it ever since!

The whole process is really easy; you get the package in the mail, spit in the little tube they give you, activate your test online, and then send the tube back to them in the prepaid box given to you!

This was actually the day I got my hair done – the last couple of pictures before I colored my hair!

 Wow read those instructions Kendra.

 Starting to spit hahaha.

This may be the best picture of me ever.

You get the results in 6-8 weeks, and they basically just tell you what you are, ethnicity wise! I know I have Scottish, Irish, and Native American in me predominately, but it’ll be so interesting to find out just how much I have, and what else I am, if that makes sense haha. I will definitely be sharing the results once I get them!

Thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

New Year, New….Hair?

Change is something that I definitely struggle with. It makes me super nervous because I don’t know what to expect and I don’t know if I’ll end up liking the change or not; however, I have been wanting to change up my hair for a while now, and I didn’t want to dramatically cut it all off. I also was really worried about coloring it because I colored my hair when I was younger and eventually started to hate it.
This past August, you guys may remember, I got red in the ends of my hair when I wanted a subtle balyage, but that just ended up washing out after a couple of weeks. Since I wanted the change to be more noticeable than last time, I decided to go for something that would show up more! I also want this year to be a great one, so I decided to start it off with a pretty big change (to me anyway)! I thought, what the heck, I’m only young once, right? And, if I ended up not liking the color, I could just get it colored back to my natural color. So without further ado, here is my new hair!
Ok, so it isn’t as fire engine red as it looks in this picture. The lighting made it look crazy red, but it’s actually more of a dark auburn with lighter copper highlights!
This is what it looks like when it’s not directly under the light.
You can kind of see the copper highlights here!
I really love how it turned out! It’s honestly not too drastic of a change, and I think it looks nice against my paler skin, and it brings out my green eyes way more!
These photos were taken when I was home, and I’m back at college now, so I’ll probably have a post soon of how it looks now that I’ve washed it a couple of times. I’m so glad I decided to color it, though! It’s the perfect time for a change, and having the different tones in my hair kind of forces me to actually style my hair everyday in order to actually see them, instead of just leaving my hair to dry at night.
Have you guys made any changes so far this year?

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful day! 🙂
